I was born in Lakeland, Florida, but have called the Dallas area home for most of my adult life. After earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Dallas Baptist University, I began my nursing career in several areas of the hospital, including pediatrics, newborn nursery, postpartum, adult ICU, and medical/surgical nursing. My greatest passion, however, has always been caring for children and their families.
That passion led me to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I earned my Master’s degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Texas Woman’s University in 1997. Since then, I have spent nearly three decades caring for children and adolescents, including 15 years in primary care and the past 13 years in pediatric urgent care.
During my years in primary care, I had the privilege of caring for children from their first days of life through young adulthood. I especially valued getting to know families over the years and developing relationships built on trust. I also served as a breastfeeding counselor, supporting new mothers who chose to breastfeed while also providing encouragement and guidance to families who chose a different feeding path. Every family is different, and I believe parents deserve a healthcare provider who listens to them and supports their individual needs.
I am especially excited to return to primary care. While I have loved my years in urgent care, I have missed the opportunity to build long-term relationships with children and their families. When Urgent Care for Kids developed its primary care practice, I was excited about the opportunity to return to the type of care that has always been especially meaningful to me.
As a primary care provider, my goal is to partner with parents in caring for their children, not only when they are sick, but also helping them grow, develop, and stay healthy. I feel privileged to be a part of a child’s healthcare journey and to be someone families can turn to with their questions and concerns.
Outside of medicine, family is very important to me. I am married and have two sons and a daughter, and nine grandchildren, three girls and six boys. I love spending time with my families at home and traveling with them.
