Our Mission

At Care for Kids (Formerly Urgent Care for Kids), our mission is simple and powerful:
Closing the gaps in pediatric healthcare through innovation and execution.

Every decision we make — from expanding clinic hours to launching new services — is rooted in our commitment to deliver the specialized care families need, exactly when and where they need it.

Where We Started

Care for Kids (Formerly Urgent Care for Kids) was founded in Austin, Texas in 2011 by healthcare innovators Brian White and Kevin Pearce. After seeing firsthand the lack of after-hours pediatric care in their community, they set out to build something different: a healthcare experience designed around children, and around the realities parents face every day.

On November 1, 2011, our first clinic opened its doors in Keller, Texas — offering pediatric-focused urgent care in a welcoming, kid-friendly environment with extended hours and no appointments needed.

Expanding Access and Growing Our Impact

As families' needs evolved, so did we. In 2019, we expanded healthcare access directly to school campuses through SchoolMed, offering on-demand telehealth and wellness events in partnership with districts nationwide.

In 2020, we expanded further by introducing telemedicine services, making it easier for families to access trusted pediatric providers from the comfort of home.

In April 2024, we launched primary care services at our Alliance and Mansfield clinics — strengthening our role as a trusted partner for everyday and preventive healthcare needs. And in July 2024, Care for Kids (Formerly Urgent Care for Kids) achieved a major milestone:

With the acquisition of 11 clinics previously operated by Pediatrix Medical Group and NightLight Pediatrics, Care for Kids (Formerly Urgent Care for Kids) became the largest provider of pediatric urgent care services across the Houston metro.

Today, with 22 clinics statewide — and a growing range of services — Care for Kids (Formerly Urgent Care for Kids) leads the way in delivering accessible, high-quality pediatric care for families across Texas.
