Here at Urgent Care for Kids, St. Patrick’s Day is a time for clover decorations, festive ducks, and of course, snacks in all shades of green! In this month’s edition of ‘Kids in the Kitchen’, we wanted to share a few of our favorite recipes for you to prepare and enjoy with your children. Whether it’s stirring, measuring, scooping, or taste testing, kids love to be involved. Below, we’ve listed a few adorable snack ideas for you and your family to enjoy on St. Patrick’s Day!
- A smoothie can be a delicious way to ensure your children have their daily intake of vegetables. Fruit can often mask the flavor of added veggies, and we think this recipe from Kids Cooking is the perfect blend. Not to mention, it’s the picture-perfect shade of green!
- Making cookies with your children is not only a great sensory activity, but it’s also a fun way to teach your little one how to measure ingredients. For St. Patrick’s Day, you can use any cookie recipe (we love this sugar cookie recipe from All Recipes) and let your kids use cookie cutters to cut them into rainbows, or clovers! If you want to add a little extra fun, use icing and green sprinkles to top them off!
- Holidays are a great excuse to give gifts to your loved ones, and St. Patrick’s Day is no exception. Use pretzels, M&M’s, and Hershey’s Kisses, to create adorable Twisted Shamrocks from VT Pinspiration and let your kids give them as gifts.
- Skip desert and enjoy a green fruit kabob! Select your child’s favorite green fruits such as green grapes, kiwi, green apples, or pears, and let them place the fruit (with your supervision) on a kabob.
