Introducing the Urgent Care for Kids Provider Spotlight for this week: Brandi Farrell, Primary Nurse Practitioner! Brandi is one of our providers assisting patients out of our clinic in Keller, Texas. She is more than deserving of the spotlight this week, with her outstanding patient care and love for her job!
Q: Brandi, tell us a little about your experience and why parents should allow you to care for their children.
A: I have a Masters in Nursing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, a post Master’s Certificate in Pediatric Acute Care, and am currently finishing my doctorate in Nursing this fall. I am board certified as a primary and acute care pediatric nurse practitioner. I have only cared for children throughout my extensive career including: the pediatric intensive care, pediatric emergency department, and pediatric trauma and burn surgery. I have worked as a PNP at some of the most prestigious pediatric hospitals in the country including Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Children’s National Medical Center. Most importantly, I am a mom of a 5 year old boy and a 2 year old girl.
Q: Why did you choose to specialize in pediatrics?
I have always wanted to work with children. My first career was a nutritionist with the WIC program and I loved having appointments with the “littles.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about working for Urgent Care for Kids?
We have a great group in Keller and they are fun to work with!
Q: What is your favorite thing about living in DFW?
Fort Worth is a great town and it is always nice to be able to run outside during the winter. We moved to this area to be close to family and that is a huge bonus!
Q: What is one thing that is unique about you that most people do not know?
I am a 9th generation Texan, though I have spent most of my adulthood living everywhere else!
We hope you enjoyed learning more about Brandi! We value all of our team members so much and we love to share them with you. If you have any questions, comments, and/or a personal experience your family had with her, please feel free to comment below. We would love to hear your feedback!
