Healthy Valentines Day Treats

It’s hard to believe that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Like most holidays, Valentine’s Day is filled sugary treats and goodies, and it can be difficult to stick to your healthy resolutions. At Urgent Care for Kids, we want to encourage families to enjoy the holiday with alternative nutritious treats! Below are 3 of our favorite sweet treats that we think your family will enjoy!

  1. Heart Shaped Fruit Kabobs

Instead of candy hearts, why not use a cookie cutter to turn your little one’s favorite fruits into hearts? Watermelon slices, pineapple chunks, and strawberry halves make excellent choices for a fruit kabob. For added fun, let your child help prepare the kabobs.

  1. Heart Shaped Banana Pancakes

Don’t miss out on a festive Valentine’s Day breakfast. Simply combine 1 ½ bananas (mashed), 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder, and 2 eggs, and whisk together for a delicious pancake batter. Cook in heart shapes and serve with blueberries or maple syrup, and your kids are sure to love it!

  1. Healthy Brownies

This recipe could not be any easier. You’ll need 3 overripe bananas, ½ cup of smooth almond butter, melted, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. In a large mixing bowl combine all ingredients and mix well. Pour the mixture into a greased pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Allow the brownies to cool, and enjoy!
